The story behind The Wee Dram

The Wee Dram was first conceived back in the mid nineteen nineties, Adrian and Alison Murray were two whisky enthusiasts who were frustrated at the lack of a good range of whiskies available in England. So they decided to do something about it, and on Saturday 14th March 1998 The Wee Dram opened its doors for the first time.

The concept is very simple, we provide customers with a great range of whiskies from all around the world, such as Kentucky Bourbon, Canadian Rye, Irish, English, Welsh, Swedish, Blended Scotch and of course Single Malt Scotch Whisky to name but a few. Adrian and Alison along with their friendly and knowledgeable staff can help and inform customers so they can find the perfect whisky.

As well as our Bakewell Shop, situated in the heart of The Peak District, we conduct whisky tasting events, hosted by ourselves or with guest speakers from the whisky industry. We also hold the annual Wee Dram Fest each year, a festival of whisky held each October. Not to mention our successful on-line and mail order business.

As well as whisky, we stock a select range of gins. In October 2010, a couple of friends of ours from Bruichladdich Distillery on Islay came to host a whisky tasting evening for us. They brought with them a new gin that they had just started to make and asked if our guests wanted to be the first to try it – a tough job but someone had to do it. From then on, we stocked Botanist Gin from the Isle of Islay, over the year’s others have also been selected to increase our range.
